Process: The creative journey for this redesign began with extensive research into the themes and tone of Austin, focusing on its raw portrayal of addiction and self-reflection. To ground the design in these ideas, I brainstormed visual metaphors that could encapsulate both struggle and transformation, settling on the imagery of a cigarette wrapped in chains. This concept evolved through sketching and experimenting with different compositions to ensure the design effectively conveyed the album’s emotional weight.

Texture and contrast played a significant role in the development process, with careful attention given to the interplay between the cigarette, the chains, and the surrounding elements to enhance depth and symbolism. Adjustments to the color palette were made through trial and feedback, shifting from an intense red to a more contemplative deep purple to achieve a balance between darkness and hope. The typography was selected to harmonize with the gritty yet introspective aesthetic, emphasizing the personal and universal nature of Post Malone’s message.
